Just the right length through nature. Not too challenging and you end up with a view which is very rewarding.

This walk is great for those that would like to try a little elevation and see how they go. There is a 2.5hr loop walk which incorporates Bainggug highlighting the beautiful bushland around the base.

Piccaninny is an easy walk (steady, gradual climb) but still provides some great views. It is overshadowed by the higher Mount Sturgeon and Mount Abrupt. We did it up in about 35 minutes. It is best to park at the Carpark on Rte C217 (900 metres past the 'official' Mount Sturgeon carpark on the corner of Rte C216 and Rte C217). The other Piccaninny Carpark on Rte C216 is not suitable for 2WD vehicles.

This walk is recommended as an introduction to the Southern Grampians, but only if you have spare days to do the other more spectacular mountain walks (Sturgeon and Abrupt).

A pleasant walk with great views over Dunkeld and looking south.
Local material described walk as easy, but parts of it should probably be classified as medium difficulty.
Feb 21 - road to the car park was in poor condition, very difficult to get a sedan to the car park. We parked on the main road which added an extra kilometer to the walk.

An easy climb - 45 minutes each way - to a beautiful view. And kangaroos at the top as an added bonus.

Hike up was easier compared to walking down as there are small pebbles on few parts of the path.
Since it was winner during my hike, the wind could be rather strong. The Carpark area was quite hard to find as it is just a small open space area without any clear signage.

Take it slow and steady and most people could do it. 50minutes round trip. I am a not very fit 63 year old but the view is worth it.
