Top ways to experience Double Bay Farmers Markets and nearby attractions

The area
Neighbourhood: Double Bay
Located in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, Double Bay is a one of the city's most beautiful harbour neighbourhoods. Designer boutiques provide a decadent shopping experience and dress some of the most beautiful people in Sydney. Sit down at one of the open air cafes for a latte or a meal and enjoy the people-watching. Double Bay was once an exclusive enclave for an older, elite population, but new restaurants, late night bars, hotels and cafés are attracting a younger, vibrant mix, making Double Bay the place to be on the harbour.

I came across this market whilst staying at hotel nearby. There were only a few stalls selling mostly food and clothing/crafts. I tried the chinese dumplings - the dumpling skin was a little thicker than it should be, but delicious enough. Overall, good for a quick lunch. Some stalls had their own tables and seats, but you could just sit in the park nearby and enjoy your food.

This was near where we stayed hence we popped by for a look. There wasn't a huge variety but enough to touch on the different categories like food, groceries, coffee, flowers and a bit of shopping.

There's live music as well and I see children just dancing to it which was lovely
to see.

The markets offer good quality artisan gourmet produce. It doesn't sport a wide range of goods, but it's worth exploring the locale.

There's some good produce and meals here, although only about 20 stalls all up. Double Bay really hates pedestrians though. The park and square where the market is has nose to tail parking the whole way around. There are only a couple of halfway decent access points and those don't even have pedestrian crossings.

When i wanted to order turkish gözleme, the order took ages so i decided to cancel it. The guy who owned the stall said "I don't give a sh!t, I don't care"
It was very rude of him and i waited a long time for it.

I have visited the Double Bay market on 3 occassions recently. I purchased fruit and veg, salmon and clothes.

All stall holders were friendly, happy and helpful.

The most enthusiastic was the guy who makes the Babka. He is so enthusiastic about it when he makes a new flavour. This time it was a Walnut Baby Babka. His enthusiasm is infectious.

I always leave the markets feeling great.

Well done guys...

Open on Thursday mornings, the Double Bay Farmers Market has stalls offering fresh food, take-away, artisan bread, and a few eclectic clothes stalls. All in all a pleasant way to spend a Thursday morning.

Double Bay every Thursday -I happened across this small market and really enjoyed the local produce from food to "bits and pieces" - great fun - so good to see so many little local markets cropping up in just about all cities and towns around Australia!!

Every Thursday Guiilfoyle Park in Double Bay becomes a fine foods market place. With a range of merchants, including a green grocer, a baker and a charcuterie, this is a delightful market. It is only small but all the providers are first class. I particularly recommend the Vietnamese street food stall serving excellent pho bo (beef noodle soup).

Every time i visit I am constantly amazed at not only the range of produce (organic, conventional, gourmet, artisan and more) but by the laid back atmosphere. No need to hurry, kid friendly, musos strumming jazz or blues, sensational meat from Jim (the butcher), GORGEOUS flowers (from a local business who has a stall there which in my books is a winwin). Scrummy hot lunches from these guys who are now doing fish tacos which are the absolute bomb. Totally and utterly recommend it to anyone visiting. In a life where everyone is so impatient it's nice just to kick back and relax. Talk the producers, place orders, watch the ponies and donkeys...what more could you ask for?
