Overview
More
The Tabernacle was converted in the mid-1980s from a Wesleyan chapel into a centre for the performing arts. Since then MOMA Machynlleth has grown up alongside it in seven beautiful exhibition spaces. Throughout the year MOMA Machynlleth shows Modern Welsh Art, featuring leading artists from Wales, works from the growing Tabernacle Collection, and in August selected entries from the Tabernacle Art Competition. Many of the works of art are for sale.

Great little art venue, with a good art competition when I visited, but unfortunately this swamped any national permanent collections.

This was a great venue to see comedy. All seats have a good view, although we like the balcony ourselves. We also saw as much as the art as we could and there were some good pieces.

This excellently designed art gallery is a real find in the quiet market town of Machynlleth. Just a few doors down from an excellent bookshop, and a new photographic gallery, it always has fabulous work on show, as well as the permanent exhibition of work....More

We were wandering around Machynlleth and spotted MOMA Machynlleth. There was a warm welcome, an interesting free chamber music concert going on and fascinating art in a number of galleries. The art was varied, of a good standard and uplifting. The programme of future exhibitions...More

Visiting family locally & came into the town to see what was on offer. Very interesting art display with many genres represented & the music festival would have been worth a visit had we had the time. What a great facility - will visit again...More

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this gallery - wonderful art work accomplished by some very talented people, informative video about local poet, beautifully restored building. However we made the mistake of deciding to have lunch in the cafe. What a disappointment! We both ordered...More

Though this gallery / arts centre isn't the largest (slightly putting the 'MoMA' description in a strange light, compared to the other places described as such) there was plenty to see when I visited. Though quite a lot of it was more 'contemporary' than 'modern'...More

We hadn't planned to visit the gallery, then the weather forced the issue! We were surprised at the size of the gallery and the interesting buildings. We loved some of the large installations too. Amazing café - had iced coffee in a large glass milk...More

Really good to come across a modern gallery in such a small place. The lady on the front desk could not have bee more informative and amusing. The building itself is beautiful and a welcome cafe for afterwards. Excellent.
