The Talyllyn Railway is a historic narrow gauge steam railway, running from Tywyn to Abergynolwyn and Nant Gwernol through unspoilt Snowdonia. Tywyn is home to the Narrow Gauge Railway Museum, Railway Shop and King's Licensed Cafe & Bistro. The line passes the delightful Dolgoch Falls and there are excellent forest walks at Nant Gwernol.We offer a great day out for all the family. Groups receive a discount when booked in advance.

Drove to the station from Barmouth and parked in the station car park (£1 for the day) walked up to the quaint picturestic station of Talyllyn for our day rover tickets which allow you to use the trains all day. We had a lovely ride to Dolgoch and the stunning waterfalls which are just a short walk from the station.... More

A lovely trip from Tywyn to Nant Gwernol along the first of the Great little Trains of Wales. Superb views and friend and helpful staff.

Had a fantastic day out with our dog 🐶on the railway- it was our puppy's first time on a train and she couldn't have been made to feel more welcome- and she loved it 😊. I would say it is a must do activity will being there not only for the steam train experience but also the whole experience. The train, Talyllyn syltation, the train crew, the route ..... Have been many times to this lovely railway and enjoy every visit. Volunteers are always friendly and helpful and full of information. The quaint carriages and narrow gauge engines are perfectly charming for both adults and children. This is a great little railway with some stunning views across the valleys of west Wales. As luck would have it, our journey coincided with a "half price week" which saved us at least £20 in admission prices. The car park was also a very reasonable £1. Brilliant ride through the Wales countryside with loads of waterfalls & animals to spot. Cafes at both ends. Well stocked varied gifts shop in Talyllyn. Added to the magnet collection at both ends. Superb afternoon outing. Great value for money

Been a few times now while out on the bike, they do a very nice Sunday lunch, also sandwiches and a soup of the day.....worth a stop if you look like old steam trains as well
