My friends and I were staying in ruthin for birthday celebrations and decided to pay a visit to this little gem on the way home. We were all so glad we did! It's a beautifully kept house and it was so lovely to wander around the rooms and get up close to wonderful items from the past. Beautiful house, beautiful... More

We have visited and liked Ruthin before, but never found this lovely house . It's not just an interesting historic 15th century house but it has been lovingly restored. Inside the rooms have been laid out to illustrate the lives of past inhabitants up to the 1940s. Objects and decorations have, when needed, been recreated. It means that you are... More

This house is the oldest timber framed dwelling house in Wales and was restored in 2005. It is a stunning place to visit and of interest to all ages. The garden is beautiful and a peaceful place to sit in. We would highly recommend it

This is our annual pilgrimage to see The Lord Chamberlain's Men perform Shakespeare. Take your own picnic and chairs and so what if it's a bit soggy (it was for the first time in years this time). The performance is excellent, and the historic setting of Nantclwyd y Dre is perfect. Thoroughly recommended.

Very old building, interesting layout in each room with interactive activities for children. There wasn't anyone else there when we went so had the place to ourselves. The garden at the back is the biggest surprise, it's huge. the volunteer staff are brilliant and chatted with us about the building and the history for some time. A unique piece of... More

Step inside the facade of this town house into a surprisingly rewarding trip through the ages. Each room a different era with associated snippets of stories, photos, artifacts etc. really friendly staff and the freedom to explore without all the usual national trust style "direction". Lovely peaceful rear gardens with great views. Well worth the visit, especially as it sits the... More

An absolutely beautiful timbered Tudor house (the oldest in Wales) with rooms carefully decorated and furnished to their period (there were Jacobean and Georgian extensions). The garden is a peaceful oasis, with views of the castle, hills, and House of Correction - and a newly opened Lottery funded garden reflecting the changes in garden style in the centuries since the...
