Very interesting and authentic, the visit is well supported with information, and there is also audio guide available to follow the tour. My family had previously visited many years ago but it was nevertheless just as interesting. It is very cool In the cells so a pleasant place to visit if you want a break from the sun for a... More

Ruthin Gaol is a historic place to visit and shows how people were treated in gaol in Victorian times. It was a very interesting place to visit and it was great to walk around at our own pace. We spent a couple of hours there. The staff were very helpful, pleasant and friendly. It was a very hot day when... More

Excellent piece of history to visit. A pentonville style old gaol/jail with lots of information as you walk around the buildings and look how life was as a prisoner in years gone by. Open cells to look into including the 'dark cell' for punishment and a padded cell. Limited access to the main wing but still you get an insight... More

I love my history, castles, stately homes etc but this was a really interesting twist on my usual history visits. Its very well presented, you go around at your own pace and there were staff on hand if you had a question. Absolutely loved my visit, great for all ages. Great value for money

Very interesting and great value for money. It would have been lovely to have had access to the full prison but only first two floors are open for public visits.

Ruthin Goal Prison was absolutely fantastic. The gentleman behind the counter was so lovely he spoke to my daughter first, who wanted to pay our admission (£14 for a family ticket which is fantastic) he then offered her some quiz worksheets to work on going around the prison. You visit the kitchen area first where they show you what the... More

Ruthin Gaol is well worth a visit. The ladies on duty when we visited were charming and the information map, boards etc were well done and very informative. I've visited several old gaols over the years and what you get here is pretty much the norm, i.e. detail re individual felons, the crimes they committed, punishment meted out, work conditions,...
