Visited as a part of a day in the area. As EH members we were able to enter for free. A video helps to explain the castle and why it was not completed. You can walk the entire walls and also look around the inside. Not a lot under cover so it best saved for a dry day.

Positioned as the castle never built, the story behind this is quite interesting. It's more built than not without being a ruin with a half moat and very photogenic. Dogs are allowed on the ground levels only with higher levels accessible via steep winding staircases, which feel quite treacherous at times. There's a sweet little Chapel with stained glass windows, although we doubt they're original. The whole castle looks pretty much the same throughout but worth a visit if you have a few hours to spare whilst in the area.

The castle is a perfect example of the castle builders skill. The outer wall with its moat surround is just hiding a gorgeous inner building. The history is fascinating and the place is just stunning.

Fantastic place. Well worth a visit and a photographers dream. Cost about 17 quid for us both but great value for money! Plus it was gorgeous weather which was a bonus

This is a fantastic castle. Surrounded by a nice moat, located in a pretty town near the water.
This was the last of the royal strongholds created by Edward I in Wales. A very nice size fortress. A lot bigger than it seems from outside.
It was even meant to be bigger, but history and lack of money got in the way in the 1320s. But even as is it, it's a real beauty. It's in great shape and there's lots to see. Including walking all around on top of the wall.

Just about 8£ a person. A fair fee, because there's really plenty to do and there are countless photo ops. Dogs are even allowed, our Bulldog loved it. So did we.

There's a nice shop as well with books, souvenirs and nice glassware. Bought a bunch of Whisky glasses. Nice quality - fair prices.

A fantastic visit and one of the highlights of all the castles we've visited on this years Road Trip through the UK.

If you arrive by car, your best bet is the nearby Beaumaris Green Carpark. 5£ all day. Short walking distance.

Castles weren't designed to let anyone in - quite the contrary - but the grounds here are fully accessible for anyone on a scooter (less so for anyone with a rollator or wheelchair though as it's all grass). As such my wife enjoyed her visit and found the AV presentation of interest (although there wasn't anything else to see as information boards are minimalistic). Access with the mobility scooter was f.o.c.

The able-bodied one can not only walk around half the perimeter wall but - unusually - within it, and it's worth looking out the chapel (viewed from first floor level).

NB. There is a pay-and-display car park to the north-east of the castle (Blue badges accepted) but there is no direct access to the castle and so - rather inconveniently with a mobility scooter - one has to follow the road back round to the town, cross over, and then divert round the back of the Courthouse Museum when the pavement disppears! An alternative for £5 or so is the long-stay huge village green on the southern side of the road.

Beaumaris is a compact village right by the coast with its very own castle. Parking is available a short walk from the site. This is a classic 13th century round turreted, unfinished castle, like every child makes on the beach! It's a National Trust property. Plenty to explore if you are interested in this type of historical monument. My only criticism is the full colour booklet one can buy in the shop prior to entry. It has a lot of information but does not relate in anyway in its presentation when walking around the site, making it very difficult to know where to find info in a particular area. A suggestion would be to have numerical or alphabetised system of plaques around the castle that relate to what is in the booklet, rather than the reader having to thumb through the guide to try and find a relevant text. Nonetheless very interesting.

There is plenty to explore of this part complete castle - we walked all along the ramparts and up several of the towers winding staircases - both being over 70 years old and enjoying every minute - however we would be a bit more wary if it had been raining as the cobble stones could be slippery
