Very enjoyable displays of: 1. Lord Nelson (who actually had nothing to do with Monmouth !) 2. Nearby Rockfield recording studio based on an ex farm famous for various albums recorded there. With a visit.

We visited this museum during an impromptu day visit to Monmouth. I can thoroughly recommend it as an interesting and educational hour or so's addition to your visit. We learned a lot about the life and times of Nelson, his links with Monmouth, and his relationship with Lady Hamilton.

This may well be an interesting museum, but if you're only in Monmouth for a short time, bear in mind it's shut from 1-2pm, as we discovered on arriving there a couple of minutes before 1 o'clock!

Wonderful little jewel giving lots of knowledge and history of the area with interesting things to see and read and artifacts to view. A treasure house for those visiting or even already living int he area. Somewhere not to be missed.

We came across this small, free museum by chance whilst visiting Monmouth. I was surprised by the amount of Nelson memorabilia on display for such a modest looking attraction, although some of it is fake. I didn't have time to look around the remainder of the museum, so am unable to comment about it.

I have chosen the lowest rating only after a lot of thought as every place deserves a chance. However, as delighted as my husband and I were to find the museum open on a late Sunday afternoon in October, it really did disappoint. The museum on Nelson is dark, dated and very disorganised into display cases with no obvious narrative.... More

Visited many times, a great little museum, lots about Nelson as to be expected. This time had to go to see the Rockfield exhibition, I had no idea how many big names have recorded there! You must go whilst its on, you will be surprised

It was great to find this small museum with so many artefacts of Nelson and that era. Very informative visit.

Loads of info on everything of historic relevance to the area. The staff were helpful and I enjoyed just being able to mooch around at my own pace. Lots of interesting facts and information, I hadn't known anything about the music history which was a nice surprise. Well done Monmouth!
