Previous reviews of the Pony Path refer to it being a hard slog - which it is for the 60plus walker ! - but well worth it for the views ! It is well signposted from the car park to the summit , just take time and go well equipped, in particular for the strong cold winds at this time... More

We have reached the summit of Cader Idris using two of the three paths. A few years ago we hiked the Pony Path - the path is fairly safe - it is steep and hard work but it is certainly accessible to the novice walker. March 11th 2017 we hiked the Fox Path. This path is certainly not for the... More

What a great mountain, it has sheer cliffs, wooded slopes, waterfalls, sheltered valleys, a prominent ridge, mountain views, sea views. No wonder it's a bit of a favourite. We had a great walk up it last week. We were staying in Dolgellau, so we got an early bus around to Minffordd, we walked up via the Minffordd path, had lunch... More

Cannot put into words how beautiful this place is. Make sure you try to get as high as you can for a view of the beach, lakes and mountains all in one place together. You will need your camera for the breathtaking scenery.

But if you don't like walking....... we went pony tricking in the foothills and it was fantastic. All the same fantastic views but the horse did all the walking! In my view the best way to do it!

Was up here three times last year, fortunately we caught it on a clear day twice. Like any mountain a clear day is essential to fully appreciate the wonderful scenery. In my opinion the views are better than Snowdon/Yr Wyddfa, but it can be harder to get up here. The easiest route is from the Dolgellau side, but the best... More

Tough hike up the first part, very big steps! Couldn't go any higher than the lake as the fog was far too thick but the views are stunning! Great for the dog too but if you don't have control, keep it on a lead as there are sheep all around you! Will do again in the summer!

It's such beautiful mountain. I've walked Snowdon many times but Cadar is my favourite. It is just as unforgiving as Snowdon so always be prepared as it can change so quickly, but I love it rain or shine. Stuninng views.
