Completed in 1290, this is a fine example of a concentric circle, with outer walls serving as a line of defense around a series of inner walls and the main living quarters.

My wife and I were in North Wales to climb Snowdon. In six days we planned to climb at least three different Snowdon tracks. We managed one and a half. This left us with plenty of time to visit local attractions. We both like history...More

This is the third time we have visited the castle. It is well maintained by CADW. CADW has added a new gift shop, cafe, and historical signage since we were last here which really adds to the experience.

Great castle with stunning views. One side is stunning views out to cardigan bay and the other side looks out to mount snowdon and it’s glorious surroundings! The castle itself is as impressive as its surroundings!...my son enjoyed the clue hunt and loved learning the...More

Great place to visit but it would have been better with more information panels around the castle. There was fantastic focus on the history of the castle which was appreciated but not much information on how the castle would have looked & been used throughout...More

We visited the castle during the eerily lit period of the effects of the Atlantic hurricanes [strong but warm wind & red sun!]. The castle just dominates the sleepy little town of Harlech & the position is just jaw-dropping ...built onto a massive rock high...More

Harlech train station is very close to the castle but you do have to walk up a very steep hill! Shouldn't take longer than 10-15 minutes and you can get a delicious ice cream at the top :)

My dog loved it only allowed in the grounds and not on the walls etc. The cafe has outdoor seats with lovely views. Lots of cadw castles allow dogs hope this helps. Enjoy x
