Visiting a cemetery may sound strange, but this one is interesting. It has a handful of historical graves, but the variety of gave markers with the interesting stone designs and statues is worth a drive through. Don't miss the dite.

Spend the $5 for the audio tour - they have CD as well as an access code for a smart phone if you don't have a CD (we didn't). The information in the audio is wonderfully informative. The tour path is very well marked, the...More

If you want to know about the evolution and past of Memphis, visit Elwood when they do a history tour to raise money for maintenance.

We did the audio tour while we waited for family members in Graceland. Great history and beautiful experience.

We drove around for twenty minutes or so but didn't have the audio guide as our car had no CD player. Peaceful well maintained cemetery, not sure how its become a must see site though.

My friends and I enjoy seeing cemeteries. We visited Elmwood and did not do the audio tour, but we had fun seeing the tombstones and taking pretty pictures during the overcast day. I recommend it as a nice free activity to do around town!

This is a beautiful cemetary, memorializing many generations of Memphis history. Huge sculptures and statues. Large section of Confederate graves from the Civil War. We just walked part of it and drove the remainder. I believe, there is an audio tour, but we visited on...More

The cemetery is in South Memphis, just South of downtown in an undesirable area for those who are unsure which way to go. My advice is to contact a tour company or your hotel concierge to recommend local transportation. We... More
