I just visited the STAX Museum in Memphis. I really enjoyed the museum and the trip down "memory lane". It's great to see a museum that combines with educating youth. The prices in the small gift shop were reasonable. I can't wait to hear some of the "greats" again. The Elmwood Cemetery is nearby so next time, I may combine... More

There is a lot to learn here, even for major music fans. The rise and fall of Stax and the stories of the artists who worked for the label are thoroughly covered in the excellent introductory film and the surprisingly numerous and detailed displays that follow. It was great to learn more about the label's founders and also about the... More

This museum is much different than the other music museums in Memphis. It was extremely well done. You could spend a half a day in the museum reading about all the artists. The only negative is that the museum is in a pretty rough part of Memphis.

Wow, best museum I've ever been to!! If you love this music even a little, you will have a wonderful time!! Leave at least a few hours, I could have spent a whole afternoon there. And the people who run it are terrific!

I love Memphis R&B and so the idea of seeing where it took place and learning the Stax story was a great time. Jut the right size to interest anyone who is willing to check it out and satisfy the true believers.

This presentation is amazing. You stand where the songs were recorded. It's profound to know how much music came from here.

We visited Stax on a guided tour, in all honesty I did not know that this existed but quite glad that we ended up taking the tour.

This is one of those unplanned road trips that makes you happy that you turned the corner and stopped. The music will make you move your hips, even if it's just for a minute. It's fun to hear the history and tour the exhibits that give you the background stories behind your favorite musical stars.

This is where the great blues and rock n roll stars got their start and where you can see some amazing video clips of people you have only heard of. See some of the costumes they wore the cars they drove the recordings they made and learn how they got their start. Ever heard of the chittlin-circuit? Come learn about... More
