Another must see in your Memphis tour. Something that struck me. As much as things have changed in the music industry they have stayed the same. Very inspirational to see there is a music school is on the premise and that is heart warming among the worn down projects.

Great museum. Four teenagers in our group loved it as much as the adults. We started our morning here before going to BBQ Central for lunch and then to the National Civil Rights Museum. We spent about 90 minutes at the Stax. Every minute of it so worthy!

Knew nothing about Stax til we started planning our trip to Memphis. So glad we were told to come here. Probably a highlight of our trip. Learn about the evolution of soul and blues and the history of a record company. There is even a dance floor with old soul train clips playing. Take me back...

Ok, Yes I know the white elephant is the neighborhood BUT in the midst of greatness there has been suffering. Please don't pass up this jewel. From the time you walk in the door you are greeted. The introductory film is insightful and addresses the neighborhood, it's struggles, the rise, the fall the music, and the Memphis sound! I'm getting... More

The museum itself is fantastic but the neighborhood is not a flash looking place at all. If you do visit as advised by an unber driver, don't walk around the surrounding area just stick to the venue.

If you have any interest in soul music, this is a must-see attraction. The building itself is not the original home of all those great records but they have a reconstruction of the studio and so much memorabilia. It was very quiet when we went on a Sunday afternoon and there is plenty of parking at the back.

An amazing museum but with many artists I did not know. Interesting nevertheless. This was part of a guided tour or I may not have known about it.

I was not familiar with the history of Stax before my visit, but this is a terrific museum if you love Soul music. Take a trip back in time, when music was great!

Although this museum is out of the city centre and a bit off the beaten track, if you are a lover of soul music then it is well worth the visit. The museum tour starts with an introductory video which outlines the story of the Stax organisation after which you can walk round the exhibits in your own time -... More
