A wonderful insider view of what it takes to construct some of the worlds preeminent guitars. It's also a venue for parties and that would be awesome.

I think that this tour need to be renewed. So much technical language that couldn´t be understand by everybody. You will see just wood and glue. They don´t let you to touch or see a finished guitar except in the shop. My family did not understand a word of the tour guide. However, if you are a music fan you... More

The tour shows you how the hollow body ES style guitars age made from start to finish. If you are a musician or just a music buff this is a must for you. The plant was shut down for the Christmas holiday so it was quiet and we were able to interact with our guide quite well. The tour guide... More

We visited the Gibson factory on a Saturday so there were no employees doing production. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about the company as well as the production elements of the guitars they make. Great place to see quality made in America. We were the first tour group on Saturday morning and there were 6 of us, very personal... More

I visited in June 2011. I enjoyed the tour and the displays of all the guitars. These guitars are not Fender style guitars. They are like what BB King played. Actually, his Lucille is on display here. One of many of them. The tour is about 1 hour long so comfortable for all ages. The guide discusses how guitars are... More

Tour takes about an hour, you walk thru the factory and they explain how guitars are put together which was very interesting. Our tour guide was very entertaining and answer all questions everyone had.

Gibson Guitar Factory opened in Downtown Memphis 17 years ago. I was there for the Grand Opening. It was an exciting time! Today the factory was clean & organized. The craftsmen turn out 65 guitars a day, working on them in varying stages. The whole process takes 2 months. Tour Guide Jim Ed was a gem ~ fascinating tour! We... More

The place is incredible, but the tour needs to be renewed. Only a tour showing wood, glue, manual talents is too much technic talk for the public. I think people want to know more about history, curiosities, guitars models, and a little bit of the production chain. Not that much. Videos, áudios, photos, could increase a lot this tour. But... Gibson was the big attraction for me in Memphis. I own a couple Gibson knock-offs (Epiphone) and love these hand-made guitars. Do yourself a favor and wait for a more seasoned guide.

My parents live in Memphis and we were looking for something to do that we haven't all done before, wasn't too terribly time consuming, and not too expensive while we were visiting on Thanksgiving break. This perfectly fit the bill! You'll need to book the tour tickets online or call the day before--they are $10/person. We went on a Saturday... More
