Sun Studio - The place where an 18 year old Elvis Presley recorded his first song. It’s well-known in the music industry as "The Birthplace of Rock 'N' Roll" and the most famous recording studio in the world. Opened by rock pioneer Sam Phillips in 1950, this national Historic Landmark is where superstar musicians like Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, B.B. King, Howlin' Wolf, Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison and countless others started their recording careers. Today, Sun Studio still serves as a recording studio in the evenings while hosting public tours during the daytime hours.

Great tour of Sun Studios, Tiffany, our guide, was amazing. She was a book of information. A must see in Memphis!

Apparently I didn't read any reviews before I went to Sun Studio. Because what I expected was a distanced, quick run past an empty room, a little Elvis info, maybe some music and a gift shop. Boy, was I surprised. This is an actual tour...More

Very good tour, of this small iconic building. There is a small museum to start with, then down in to the recording studio. The tour guide gave an excellent account of its history.

This is amazing to see. It is left exactly as it was during the great recordings. You can just imagine all the legendary singers coming through those front doors. Our musician tour guide Lana was exceptional. She was very informative and had a deep love...More

A wonderful tour, very informative, very funny, engaging tour guide, a must to visit, able to take pictures in the studio and even had one using the microphone used by Elvis and others, great to see where it all started.

Visit where Elvis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and many more recording stars got their start. Our tour guide was excellent and you can take your picture "a la Elvis" style with the last remaining microphone from that era.

I'm thinking the reasoning behind no children under 5 could be for several reasons. Sun Studios is extremely small. When we went it was very hard to move around in there. We had to wait for our tour to begin for a few... More

As far as I know, making a recording wasn't an option on the tour. You would probably have to reserve the studio at a different time of the day because it is still used by artists to record.

The coffee shop is on the ground floor and the actual studio can be accessed thru a a door from the outside. The office and memorabilia are on an upper floor which probably is not wheelchair accessible.
