About
** PRE-BOOKING NOT REQUIRED TO VISIT ** Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre has evolved to become one of the premier Bird of Prey Centres in the country. The location within the woodland provides the perfect setting for the centre and a natural backdrop for our daily flying shows. We have nearly 40 Birds of Prey & Owls. See "Orla", and "Scout" our two magnificent female Golden Eagles, meet Bones, our Vulture ambassador. See a selection of hawks and owls fly during our daily flying shows in the flying area. Our flying shows are educational and entertaining, the education cabin, together with the information boards throughout the centre, all provide an insight into these magnificent creatures. - CarlosTruro, United Kingdom51 contributionsStunning birds, looked after by an amazing team.An amazing team that lovingly care for their birds. There’s quite the variety of feathered personalities to meet and the handlers shared so many interesting stories about them. We would definitely recommend a visit and if you can spare a few pounds, sponsor one of the beautiful birds.Thank you for your comments, and compliments. - Sacha P6 contributionsShort but sweetVery informative for all bird species, good array of birds present. Very short visit, but great value. Would only need around an hour, unless you wanted to stay and read, unfortunately the bird show was unavailable.Hi, thank you for your comments. Unfortunately we were unable to provide the daily flying shows at the time of your visit due to ongoing tree works in the flying area. We should be back to our normal routine soon.Written 20 February 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Travelled with familyWritten 15 February 2023
- London_food_editor10 contributionsA fantastic experience and a great centreI booked a flying experience for me and my husband and it was fantastic - we got to meet and fly more birds than we'd expected, and Adele and Kevin were brilliant hosts. They gave us tons of fascinating information about the birds and falconry in general, and clearly love their job. The centre is beautifully kept and the birds all look incredibly healthy and happy. It's obvious that everyone who works there values their welfare extremely highly, which is lovely to see. None of the birds were made to do anything they weren't happy with, which I was very pleased about. We came away very inspired and with lots of photos as we were given plenty of time to take them with each bird. Thank you so much for a wonderful morning!Hi Rebecca, Thank you so much for your wonderful comments, we thoroughly enjoyed having you and your husband here, and we are so glad you enjoyed your experience. As we said, you were our guinea pigs for this particular experience, and we were happy it went so well. As you noticed, we are all very passionate about what we do and the welfare of our birds. We appreciate your comments about that. Thank you very much again.Written 20 February 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited February 2023Written 19 February 2023
- Paul Carter1 contributionMust-see facility for those with a passion for raptors. As someone involved in avian conservation I can say without doubt that this is the finest example of captive care you will see anywhere. Stewart Robertson and the team are totally dedicated to the welfare of these incredible raptors. Their attention to detail is remarkable and the feather-perfect condition of their birds is testimony to the quality of care they receive. I was just a visitor on the day, but received what can only be described as a VIP tour of the centre and an insight into its working. Anyone visiting Loch Lomond should definitely support this amazing facility by dropping by. Thanks again Stewart for a memorable start to our break in the Highlands. What a wonderful review, thank you. It is always so rewarding being able to talk to like-minded people. It was a pleasure to talk to you and compare notes. it was very useful to be able to hear stories about the front line of conservation, and dispel a few publically held myths. Thank you for your comments, they are quite humbling and very much appreciated. - Sandancer77Wemyss Bay, United Kingdom2,021 contributionsInteresting range of birdsThis is a small centre so have a limited number of birds but they do have a good selection. Most birds you could see clearly or get up close to but the ones behind fine mesh could barely be seen which was a shame. The place is well kept and the enclosures are clean. We only went to the first bird show. It was very informative but was a little disappointed that they only flew 3 birds. I’ve been to a number of these type of things and I’ve always seen at least 6 flying. There’s a small shop at the entrance/exit. Good place to pass an hour or so.Thank you for taking the time to comment. Only at certain times of the day does the mesh reflect the sun which makes it a bit more difficult to see the birds in the aviaries. The day you visited I believe it was quite windy so limited us flying some of the smaller birds which normally fly in the morning.Written 31 May 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited April 2023Travelled with familyWritten 12 April 2023
- Lisa NHerefordshire, United Kingdom3 contributionsSuperb little placeMy mum and I had a lovely visit to the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre at the end of March. We both sponsor birds at the centre: my mum sponsors Orla, the magnificent Golden Eagle, and I sponsor Bosch, the cute and ever so fluffy Snowy Owl. The centre truly is a great place to visit. They have a good variety of birds and you can see that they are all well cared for, with spacious, clean enclosures and plenty of plants, trees and greenery dotted around the centre. The staff are all incredibly knowledgable and passionate about their work, with a lot of emphasis placed on educating visitors about the various species and most importantly, on ongoing conservation efforts. Having visited a few times over the years, and this being a quiet day, we were treated to a VIP esque day out. Many thanks to Stewart and his team. We will be back. Love Lisa and ValHi Lisa and Val, It was so lovely to see you both again. You are wonderful people and truly deserved a bit of special treatment. It was a real pleasure to have you both here for the day and indulge you in one of your favourite activities. Your sponsorship is greatly appreciated, and your friendship is very special. Lisa, you are a strong young woman and your mum is a wonderful lady. I am so happy you enjoyed your day here, I am sure there will be many more. I look forward to seeing you the next time you visit, hopefully soon. Take care, Stewart.Written 31 May 2023This response is the subjective opinion of the management representative and not of Tripadvisor LLC.Visited March 2023Written 14 April 2023

Amazing day out at the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre. We booked a last minute "meet the birds experience" for two, which was worth every penny.
We started off by watching the 1130 flying display by Kevin and Adele, which was informative and interesting- the show was stolen by Gonzo, a gorgeous 19 week old spectacled owl who was clearly still getting the hang of things - in a very comedic way!
We then had our meet the birds experience - handling 4 birds from Dink the Kestrel to Orla the golden Eagle, and flying a further 2 including Cargottow the African owl.
Adele was incredibly knowledgeable, answering all our questions, and you could see the passion that all the keepers had for the animals, and the bond the birds had with them.
We also had time to watch the second flying show with a different line up - who knew that Eagle owls were such good runners?
There are several other birds to see in the centre, with information boards on the species and how they arrived at the centre( lots are rescue birds), and a small education building with further information and activities for children.
The staff are very happy to answer questions and tell you the history of each bird.
Would highly recommend a visit - we will certainly be returning next time we are in the area!

My very close friend runs and owns this lovely place and my daughter and I visited twice during our short trip to Scotland. As usual, we were made to feel extremely welcome and had a first class visit. I recently sponsored the three Red Footed Falcons (Snap, Crackle and Pop..great names) and my daughter and I have a joint sponsorship of "Gonzo" the baby Spectacled Owl. I'm also lucky enough to have a sponsorship with the beautiful Orla, the Golden Eagle. The Centre is well run, well kept and the birds all look amazing thanks to a dedicated group of people. The Flying Shows are fun and very interesting thanks to the very knowledgeable Bird Handlers. Each show offers a different experience. The Education Cabin is worth a look with lots of interesting display items and facts. Pop into the Shop too where there is a good range of products to purchase for the young to the older visitors (check out the pewter bird of prey pins ☺️). The Centre is easily found, based at Loch Lomond Shores and if you are in the area please visit...you won't be disappointed. I'm extremely proud to be able to support this gem of a place and will continue do so.

Dearest Val. It was a pleasure to see you and Lisa, as always. I greatly value your friendship and support over the years, especially over the last twelve months, ;-) Your sponsorships are greatly appreciated, and I hope you get as much pleasure and satisfaction from being part of the centre as I do, having you involved.
Thank you so much for your wonderful review and your kind words, you describe the centre exactly as I want people to view it, and you recognise the committment and dedication of our staff. Yes, the pewter pins were a fantastic addition to the range, thanks to you, :-)
You are most welcome here any time, we all feel you are becoming part of the "crew", and appreciate your continued committment to us and the centre. You are a very special lady and continue to amaze me with how much you support me and offer advice. I look forward very much to seeing you next time. Thank you once again for your lovely review.

We did the flying experience today and despite the rain, we had a great time. The centre is well laid out and spotlessly clean, they have a wide selection of birds from all over the world on display and you can see how well they are cared for.
Adele who did the flying experience with us was friendly, very informative and clearly very passionate about the welfare of the birds.
We will be back for sure.

Me and my partner came through on 26.09.23 and we were absolutely blown away by the meet the owls experience. Kevin was our presenter/keeper of the owls and he was incredibly knowledgeable, mixing display of flying and information about the owls he was showing us. I was blown away. No words I could write match the enthusiasm, passion and pride the keepers here have for their birds. I highly recommend this to anybody even curious about birds of pray. These guys take care of their animals and ensure that these birds do what they would normally do in the wild. Thank you Kevin for dedicating so much time to talk to us, and dedicating your life to ensuring survival and well-being for these beautiful birds. 100/10.
P.S. Kevin's dad; make sure he reads this. I appreciated every second he spent with us and I hope you're very proud. Also Kevin, I hope your Ray-Ban sponsorship comes through 🤞

We went for the full bird of prey experience the price seems steep but it is well worth it and will recommend it, we have already decided on returning again in the future, their is plenty of variations of big birds and some cute little one's. The staff are brilliant and knowledgeable with each species. It rained on the afternoon we was there but it didn't stop us enjoying it to the fullest.

We had a great experience at the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre! There was a bit of a mix up with booking times but the staff went above and beyond to accommodate us. Honestly cannot recommend this place enough. The staff are amazing and so knowledgeable and passionate. It’s a great opportunity to meet and get up close to some really unique birds of prey. The experiences and flying shows are especially worth doing.

Fantastic bird of prey centre. Very clean, birds obviously loved and well cared for. Staff very friendly and lady who did the bird display wonderful sense of humour. Really enjoyable couple of hours, once you have paid you can come and go all day, we looked around then saw first display then went out and enjoyed a trip on the loch then back to watch afternoon display (different birds.)

When we went due to bird flu restrictions they where not flying and also they where building a new area for them to do fly shows. Having spoke to owner not sure when this was but if you ring them the owner was brilliant and would give you a true picture

It has come to my notice that every now and again some people complain about these wonderful birds of prey being tethered to their perches. Do they honestly expect to see Eagles, buzzards and Hawks flying around and not disappearing into the distance? It also astonishes me that the centre is currently sitting at 91% on Tripadvisor, so are the other 91% of people wrong in their views? Perhaps someone can get back to me with an answer?
Lisa M
London, Ontario, Canada160 contributions
Their enclosures are spotless and the birds are clearly all in excellent health. People who complain clearly have no idea about actual bird behavior and do expect the birds to be simply flying free - not at all sure how that would work. The birds are on short tethers when outside on their perches. You can also purchase bird experiences to actually go hunting with the birds - so clearly they are not simply tied up for their entire lives. The smaller birds have no problems in getting lots of flight time - should they want it - in their enclosures. I'm quite sure that the people who complain about the short tethers are the same ones who would complain if the birds were in such large enclosures that they couldn't easily be seen...

Hi Linda,
Throughout the year there are a number of organised bird watching activities. If you contact Loch Lomond & the Trossachs National Park, I am sure they will give you a list of planned activities.
Within the Bird of Prey Centre, our wildlife station receives wild birds every day. Over 24 species of wild birds can be seen on the feeders and in the surrounding area.
If I can be of further assistance, please contact me through the contact page on the website for Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre.
Regards,
Stewart Robertson,
Director.
