For the sake of accuracy - the Photos are of the old Parish Church of St. Colmac or Croc-an-rear, on the road to Ettrick Bay. The roof came down in the 1980s. Depopulation and lack of funds. The old Kirk is still of interest and...More

Not the easiest place to get to and certainly not for those who can not walk far. but once you get there it is a place of solitude and contemplation. Set in open country surrounded by trees and fields with only sheep for company. Worth...More

Found by accident on way to Ettrick bay! Didn't realise the church had historical significance, but that was just ignorance on my part. Have driven past the site 4 or 5 times during stay on Bute. Not much information/history about site, but will rectify that...More

Beautiful ruins and very well kept, although it wasn't an intentional visit (we came across them while driving round the island) glad that we found them.

A short drive out of town but it is worth the trip so see this historic building. Unfortunately it was pelting down with rain at the time we visited so we did not stay as long as we would have liked.

It's a shame this beautiful church is ruined now; you can see how amazing it must have been in its former glory. An interesting walk, and a keen photographer will make much of its structural power.

Visited this church and graveyard in search of ancestors. This church has obviously been a wonder building, sad that is now in ruins. The church yard is immaculate.

Once you have found this little gem it is well worth a stop and some pictures. Historically interesting and aesthetically pleasing, it needs to be done.
