The skipper Nicol is a friendly soul but also a gifted man with the boat. We felt very safe riding with him. He pointed out the oldest castle in Scotland and a lighthouse built in 1830.

Group of 8 crossing and had never been to Jura before so we were slightly nervous on the first trip as it was very wet and windy. Cross took no more than 50 mins and although rough was fine. On the way back the boat was so calm that I fell asleep. Couldn't recommend it enough as the ferry drops... More

Fast, scenic and direct to Craighouse! The other advantage is you get to see Tayvallich, which is beautiful.

Definitely the way to travel for a nights stay or day trip. A wee bit confusing at Tayvallich about paying for trip, with a machine at bay for payment but had to ask other travellers how to pay. So stood at boat until Nicol arrived. Definitely would travel with Nicol again.

Launching from the small fishing village of Tayvallich gives ferry passengers an opportunity to explore and enjoy its beauty. Trips are a bit pricey -- 40 pounds per person, round trip. We enjoyed the bracing, bouncy ride -- but it wasn't for those with weak stomachs.... More

for a few quid, and a few minutes ride, some spectacular scenery and whether your going to Jura or Islay, both islands are worth a visit, nice and easy and helpful staff, just enough time to get out of the car and get some photos
