Fabulous visit to this wonderful castle, stayed in the kitchen wing with my sister and her hubby.
It is a stunning place and David is a great host. The castle is being renovated and David is bringing new life to the castle ,will definitely be back to see how it is progressing

David is an amazing host and welcomed us in for a rather impromptu tour. Very knowledgeable about the castle and its local history and has a real and true passion for the castle and its restoration. What an experience! Fascinating to walk around and to listen to David. Would definitely recommend and we cannot wait to come back!

Spent one night but a unique and spacious place. Three very large bedrooms plus huge dining/living room. Interesting furnishings in each room. Only one bathroom but it worked for us. David even gave us a tour of his in process restoration of the main castle. Definitely a one of kind place.

Stayed in the kitchen wing for a couple nights. Very nice rooms, massive living room/dining area and (Used to be the old kitchen), kitchen area and bathroom all excellent. David (the owner) was very pleasant and showed us around the castle aswell which was good to see. Very peacefull location and the views are stunning. The castle is under restoration at the moment, so great to see it being put back into use with the rooms that have been finished so far. Would definitely recommend a stay.

Balintore Castle sits in some beautiful countryside to the north west of Kirriemuir. The trip out to the castle is over very narrow roads - the run out being part of the pleasure. I would imagine this area is cut off during wintery conditions. The castle is being slowly refurbished - it must cost a fortune - how it will earn its future keep is no doubt part of the plan.If you are a fit cyclist the round trip through Kinnordy , the Braes of Coull and along the side of Loch Lintrathen would be an intersting run.

Lucky to see advertisement in local press of "Open Day". The owner is renovating this shell-was not wind/water tight - .Cattle & pigeons were residents!
The scale of the task, not to mention the expense is daunting.lt is a tribute to the owner who has the vision/confidence & belief in local tradespeople.
The evidence of his work is most impressive, definitely worth a visit!

Thanks for the review! The "Open Day" was a "phase one" target to aim for in the restoration i.e. to get the kitchen wing completed and to show this to the public. I was delighted by the number of people that attended from near and far.

Good evening, in two weeks I will start a tour in Scotland .. I wanted to know if this castle can be visited externally or has a private access?
Written 15 July 2018
Hi Alessandro ! I appreciate I am a bit late with my response but an
internal tour is now possible if you contact up with me as "MrBalintore" on Facebook. External access is already possible because of the Scottish "right to roam" legislation. The drive is a private road, but if you come up on foot then you can walk around the building.

Hi David , I too love taking photos and your castle looks absolutely the perfecrt subject . If we came up where could we park ? Are there any time restrictions as I love astrophotography and the castle would be the perfect foreground for shooting the stars on a clear night . Regards , Ben.

Hi Ben, the "seeing" (I know the lingo!) at Balintore Castle is great. Contract me as "MrBalintore" on Facebook to organise. There are no time restrictions, except waiting for a clear night. :-)

Hi, I am a local amateur landscape and aerial photographer. Would it be OK to pop up one Sunday for some external shots. I'm happy to share any footage/images gratis. Thanks, Jo

I am the new owner and am indeed delighted to show visitors around. Best to check up in advance, of course, who will be around.
