About
Tayside Police Museum is now open for the 2024 season, right through until the end of October. Located on the ground floor of Kirriemuir Police Station at 15 Reform Street, the museum is owned by Police Scotland, and operated by a small group of enthusiastic volunteers comprised of retired Police officers and members of the Kirriemuir Heritage Trust. We aim to preserve the heritage and history of policing in all of the areas that now comprise the Tayside region, that is Dundee City, Angus, and Perth & Kinross. Please see our Tripadvisor reviews to know what to look forward to when taking a tour of our museum. We very much look forward to welcoming you!

Sent hear from JM Barrie childhood home, worth it!! Met by Hamish the friendly and very chatty ex policeman (his words, not mine) 😁very knowledgeable on all display history, explained everything, great selection on show and clippings from a siege. Not forgetting Bill who popped in. Can take photos..... he then sent me to another museum round the square...... what a day!! Kirriemuir has lots on offer.....

Is a local muesum about policing in tayside we visited during a recent trip to Kirriemuir. Couldn’t recommend it highly enough. Lovely tour with fascinating local knowledge! We have a 3 month old in a pram and they where very accommodating! Will probably come back when he is school age since I can imagine children getting a lot out of it! Well worth a visit!

Visited this museum on 23 June, what a wonderful attraction, well worth the time spent and shown round by very informative staff and shock was to find a photograph of my father when serving in the Dundee City police taken back in the 1950's in one of the rooms. Lots to see and take in, would recommend all to visit this museum.

The volunteers made us feel very welcome, especially the lady who gave us a tour, explaining everything without rushing us. You can tell they are passionate about the place. It’s lovely to see people donating pieces to the museum to keep history alive.

Will certainly recommend the place to friends and family and for anyone else looking to discover more about the history of the police.

Went to the museum following a review that said it was worth a visit. Certainly not disappointed. Our guide Hamish has excellent knowledge of the subject matter being a retired policeman himself. He was able to answer all our questions and added significant value to our experience. We came away better informed and appreciative of our police force.

The museum is situated in an old police station with some of the old cells repurposed as exhibition areas which is a nice touch.

The museum makes great use of the space it has and shows the history of of Tayside Police.

The staff are very knowledgeable on the forces history and the display cases within the museum.

If your interested in police history it’s well worth a visit. If you’ve got children they would love this museum as they have a room of uniforms and hats that they can try on.

The museum is free and is run by volunteers so if you enjoy it please sign the visitors book and make a donation.
