Statue in corner of public car park and at bottom of hill to Kierriemuir. It is a tribute to Bon Scott and I was able to photograph it without anyone around, brilliant.
Try the café up the hill on the left hand side, very nice.

Visited statue day after unveiling due to crowds. Nice life size statue but still quite shiny. Needs a bit of weathering to look it's best. Nice bit of wording set in ground around base and lightening bolts around fence. If you're interested in rock history then this is one to visit

Unveiled on 30 April 2016 the Bon Scott statue sits at the enterance to a busy carpark in the centre of Kirriemuir. He lived here until he was six and moving to Australia - the rest is rock and roll history - he died in 1980.
The statue captures his scottish roots - the bagpipes are a clue - and this weekend there have been visitors from across the globe.
I guess that this statue will attract more visitors to Kirriemuir than J M Barrie the playwright and author of Peter Pan will in the next few years. Hats off to the locals who made this happen

With BACK:N:BLACK, we were honored to be a part of the celebration and dedication of this beautiful statue to one of rock 'n' roll's most legendary front men, Bon Scott, who was born very close to the town of the town of Kirriemuir. A truly beautiful statue, this one was entirely funded by rock 'n' roll fans. Anyone who considers themselves to be a fan of AC/DC should really come by anyone who considers themselves to be a fan of AC/DC should really come by and check out this work of art, this beautiful statue, accurate all the way down to Bon Scott detailed tattoos! And though he grew up in Australia, Bon never forgot his Scottish roots – a point underlined by the bagpipes he holds in the statue.
Stop by and take your picture with the statue, then grab a cup of coffee and something to eat at any of the great restaurants right next door. Everyone in the town is all smiles and will have a story to tell you about Bon Fest, the annual event that has put the town on the map for many AC/DC fans. It's a long way to the top if you want to rock 'n' roll – but well worth the trip to Kirriemuir to check out the statue!

Even in the chilly damp cold of a Northeastern January morning in the Wee Red Town of Kirriemuir, the magnificent statue of Bon Scott in the Bellie's Brae Car Park still compels the great singer's admirers to congregate around it in well-behaved worship of their late rock-star hero. It's not an uncommon site here in our tight-knit community. In fact, I drove past a pretty pile of such people, chatting, admiring, taking and posing for photos, this very morning, and watched them awhile ... thought they might be probably Dutch.
Anyway, the now well-established long-weekend annual bean-feast to the great Bon ... Kirriemuir's very own "The Bonfest" begins celebrating on May 3, 4 & 5. ... and the local caterers will be braced to provide all they require. Bon Scott is certainly an asset to the interesting little Scottish town of his birth.

Bon Fest 2016..... Well what can I say. Quite possibly the best weekend I have ever been to... And I have been to all 10 years now! Being from Kirriemuir it was an absolute pleasure to see so many people coming to the small town for the unveiling of the Bon Scott Statue...

I have just driven through my hometown of Kirriemuir, nestled in the foot-hills of the Great Angus Glens, and have never seen so many people happily enjoying the Bon Scott Tribute Weekend - an annual weekend for Rockers and Rollers alike. The Kirrie boy who emigrated to Australia with his family and made it big-time, who died too young, a Rock Star's death, but who can still draw a big crowd after all these years. The working shopkeepers, pub owners and Bed and Breakfast ptoviders of this town must be grateful for the boost in trade that comes from the world-wide success and fame of Bon's Band, AC/DC.

I love this place and think the statue of Bon is fantastic. The people are amazingly friendly. Great food st the pubs. Most beautiful Cemetry I’ve ever seen, except maybe Paris. The town itself is full of history, incredibly pretty witn amazeing architecture. Peter Pan stands in the middle of the square and the other Peter Pan of Rock’n roll greets you as you drive in to this most picturesque place. Early spring the daffodils and tulips are in bloom and trees are full of blossoms. Add a bit of snow, which is a rarity in my city and you see why Peter Pan the book was born here. It truly is a beautiful place..

Am looking at going to Bonfest next year. Looking at accommodation and all booked up in town. If I were to get a hotel 10 miles away are there cabs available? Thanks
Written 4 December 2017
Yes. The toen has about three different taxi services. Try for Forfar ... that's about six miles away. Cheers.

Is there any bed and breakfast nearby
Written 29 September 2017
Hi there sorry i have been busy with some personal things but there is the Airlie arms hotel and Thrums Hotel both in town Centre in Kirriemuir. Also Drumshademuir campsite has someglamping pods and tent and caravan spaces too just outside town a wee bit down from Kirriemuir. About a five minute drive to am from there and alsofor bonfest there is camping onsite too. Its a great wee place and always a fab atmosphere at Bonfest weekend and we are all a friendly lot here but do get in touch and am sure somebody would be able to help you get somewhere nearby if the two places in town booked out. Hope this helps you. Plus you have all them fabulous Glensto visit while up this way.😃

It was Amazing eh! Friendliest people in Scotland, so welcoming. Statue and turnout from people from Every corner of the planet to see it done Bon proud. Stayed 3 nights in a glen which made it even more spectacular, won't forget it ;) Be back every year now. Thank you Kirrie ;)
