- Cheekycockney190757Basildon, United Kingdom11,428 contributions2 great views in one stopVisited on Tuesday 05th September 2023 on Day 4 of a British Isles Discovery 10-Day Cruise. From Portree, Skye we headed north on the circular coastal road (A855) to see the attractions on the route before circling back to Portree via the A87/ Uig. As we got back a bit earlier than expected I went back to Lealt Falls which we had missed on our first pass. Once there parking was free and straightforward, and there were two points to walk to. If you go left you have a coastal cliff top view of the sound. Turn right and you walk a bit further inland back toward the main road and a fairly new wooden viewing platform which provides a better view of both the falls and the valley towards the beach/sound. Worth a stop on any circular island tourVisited September 2023Travelled soloWritten 18 January 2024
- DavidDevon, United Kingdom172 contributionsBeautiful views and falls.18th May, adequate free parking. Later in the season unlikely! Became very busy in the middle of the day. Free to visit but donations welcome. Beautiful views and waterfalls. Recommend going down the steep path to sea-level. You need to be reasonably able with sensible footwear. Why only 4/5. People! Why visit a beauty spot and leave, cans, plastic bottles and dog poo bags? Why when asked to keep your dog "on a lead or under close control" let it wander? The nan with his dog on the beach did not see the seal only 10 yards from the waters edge. The nan who was moving small rocks to stand his camera on so he could get the picture he wanted, but did not put them back. The man who entered the abandoned hut and pulled netting and rope out of it to take a picture. Speaking to a local resident, it's been gathering pace since the start of April and high summer is almost unbearable! Too busy and crowded. Little thought for others. "Don't leave a trace"!Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 18 May 2024
- OldWulfWolverhampton, United Kingdom411 contributionsTake note of reviews!Having read the reviews before planning this trip , let me say thanks to the reviewers. Spot on! Cars clogging the layby on the main road , folk just looking at the falls from the platform, OK. Drive through onto the headland car park and if you're fit, nimble and adventurous, go down the steep path to find the lower falls and the sea view. Worth the risk and the fat burning climb back up.Visited September 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 22 September 2024

This is just a waterfall, plain and simple, I'm sure you have seen better. We came after 3 days of rain in August 2022 and it was hardly roaring. Parking is abysmal, too many campervans and caravans taking up huge amounts of space. Skye is suffering from too much tourism which is such a pity.

If you are driving don't try and park in the lay-by on the road go through the middle of those cars to the road leading up to the main car park. I did this and there was plenty of space while lots of people caused chaos trying to park by the road.
The view from the top area is lovely but most people miss out on the best view which is from the bottom! Follow the path all the way down and you reach the river and can walk to the base of the falls and then back along the river close to the sea. I was there for an hour and only saw 2 other people come down to the bottom. It was peaceful, beautiful and I sat with my feet in the river eating my lunch away from the crowd at the top.
Its a fairly steep climb back and some areas the path is narrow so maybe not for everyone but worth it if you have the time

Over the recent years improvements have made this a lot better to stop at, with a new higher up car park, a snack bar to grab a cuppa from and all the very safe felling fencing which has been erected.
The walk does not take long before you feel as if you are standing on the edge of the earth.
No matter the weather I always enjoy a visit to Lealt Falls and so do our guests.

Lealt Falls is nice..a waterfall...and THEN the view of the North Atlantic Ocean? Norwegian Sea? Whatever body of water it is, it's beautiful! We spent a good amount of time here enjoying our treats from MacKenzie's Bakery and carefully walking down the mountain (and back up) with two small kids! Worth the stop for sure!

Stopped here on the way to Staffin and was not disappointed.
Free car parking off the road and higher up with a coffee stop and deli.
We walked to both of the viewpoints and took lots of photos - it was very busy.
Apparently, you can walk down to the rocks on the beach but we did not do this as our dog cannot walk too far.
Lovely place.

Last Sunday's visit saw a change since last time. Picnic benches, more parking spaces and viewing areas for the coming season. Crashing waves, surging waterfalls and tight paths still remain and keep this as a great visitor attraction.

There is a walk all the way down the hillside to the waterfall and it is beautiful! It is totally doable on a wet and windy day as we did that. There’s steps most of the way down (no handrail). A lot of people didn’t go down due to a warning about the land being slippy when wet etc but it was like a sandy grainy texture and the view of the waterfall and across the coast was lovely. These views you can’t see from the top

Worth stopping for. Roomy car park and amazing views. The waterfall is lovely and there is a good path down to a viewing point where you can see the old salmon bothy and the beach. Good information point explaining what you can see and the history of the site. Be careful with children as the path is steep with drops. Less crowded than Kilt Rocks.
