Well worth a visit showing all aspects of a Skye crofters life. It certainly wasn't a life for the work shy or faint hearted. A daily battle to survive portrayed very well and in a beautiful location.

Great to see how islanders lived. There are some genuinely fascinating documents to pore over, however I wonder if these would be better arranged in a library/resource centre, if only for preservation. We visited on a cold day, very much exposed to the elements, so...More

We passed by on our drive round the north of the island. Sadly the museum was closed for the winter so we were only able to look over the fence. Basically the museum is designed to give an insight into how crofters existed in years...More

Visited in early October but the museum was closed. Can see the buildings and some of the equipment so not a total disaster. Lovely views from the drift museum and there are also toilets near the entrance but unfortunately they were closed as well. If...More

Perfect on a rainy day. See how people lived in their crofts. A surprisingly good gift shop (cash only!). A very cool museum.

Set of buildings useful in crofting. A blacksmith, party house, barn area, two houses and a gift shop. This was the only place when I was in Scotland where I heard Scottish Gallic being spoken. Humbling to see how hard and yet dignified their lives...More

Sorry I can't really help you as the Colbost Croft Museum was closed when I visited last October and didn't see any prices. Can't imagine it being too expensive though. We hired a car to travel around Skye so not sure if... More

The bus service to Colbost is very limited, but there is a regular bus service between Portree and Dunvegan. The service between Dunvegan and Glendale that passes Colbost is infrequent. There are daily bus services and... More

I'm afraid to say it will more than likely be closed in December - it was when I was there in October. You can still visit and see all the croft buildings from the perimeter fence, just won't be able to go inside. There... More
