Putting this into context, we had struggled to find any places open serving any food / coffee etc all morning while driving round the north of Lewis so happening on this place was simply wonderful! The local Historical Society have done a fantastic job at taking the old school house and sympathetically creating a modern multi-purpose facility for the community; the cultural centre with interesting exhibits and a lovely little cafe (oh and a little shop selling local arts and crafts amongst other things) Notwithstanding our dire need to eat, this was a truly wonderful little gem of a place with really friendly and helpful staff. Well done! …

This is local museum cum historical society cum cafe that is so worth a stop as you wander around the island. It’s a lovely bright cafe where you sit surrounded by many historical photos and other items on the walls. Thank you very much for your kind review. We are so glad you enjoyed your visit to CEN. Our museum is now nearing completion and we hope you can pop in again to see for yourself. We are also pleased to hear you mention your thoughts on us being an important community meeting space. We strive for this to be the case and we do see ourselves as the community hub for North Lewis. Many thanks again for your review.

The Historical Society has made an amazing effort to refurbish their premises- more light and airy but with the same high quality cafe and shop with a very informative museum giving insight to the local history and rich culture.

This is a local museum, shop and cafe based in an old school. It's been modernised recently and there is a lot more space for the old artefacts and art exhibitions. The shop is well stocked with gifts, souvenirs and books. Well worth visiting.
