The pump room doubles up as the Tourist Information point and a museum. Maybe we picked the wrong day but it seemed a bit disorganised and muddled. There were gifts and sweets for sale in addition to information and the museum thingy wasn’t bad but...More

Interesting place to visit. Sweet/gift shop combined with the pump room. This could be a much more engaging space if the layout could be revamped. The easiest thing to see was the sweet selection. Lots of interesting gifts were crammed in to awkward spaces making...More

This was the pump room which supplied and circulated the water for the renowned Strathpeffer health and spa resort. An interesting insight into the mechanics and engineering required to support the successful operation of the spa.

Stopped to have a quick look, and we were very impressed. Free to enter, very keen staff, and lots to see. A 'must visit'.

The Victorian Pump Room was really interesting to see how the Victorian visitors to the Spa took to the “healing” waters and advice on their ailments. Part of the Museum has an Old fashioned sweet shop, to bring back memories.

Google maps shows about 6hrs 45 min by car. We went on a coach from Chesterfield, Derbyshire with several pick up stops and other breaks and it took us about 10 hours if I remember correctly.
