We are staying at the Abbey on the side of Loch Ness. We got up early one morning to watch the boats come through the 5 locks and we all loved it.

Fort Augustus is located on the southern tip of Loch Ness and it's a little town with lots of bnbs, a petrol station and a mini mart. Not much to do but it provides good stopover before or after visiting the loch.

The nicest village I've seen on Loch Ness, deeply immersed in the characteristic local atmosphere of the monster.
