The craft community is well worth a visit. Don't be put off by the industrial architecture - an Early Warning Station that never quite was. The crafts people here are a lovely mix - well worth a conversation with the makers, even if you don't...More

Excellent range of choice. Although personally to start with an outrageous take on hot chocolate, before a casual browse around the range of arts and crafts available is a joy not to be missed.

Enjoyed reading about the history of the village and its original intended use. Had some lovely chats with shop owners about living in the village and bought some hand spun and dyed wool whilst there. Plus a visit to Cocoa Mountain of course!

Some of the shops were open, some werent. Shopkeepers seemed friendly enough but the atmosphere wasnt very lively. I think they could do more to make the village itself seem more cohesive and welcoming.

You must try the cocoa mountain chocolate shop when you visit Durness. The hot chocolate is amazing! When we went the queues for the hot chocolate were long. Great place to buy gifts too.

There are some nice shops open. But too much is shut. Cocoa mountain redeeming feature. Wood turning. Oil paintings. Arts and crafts. Glassware.

The craft village is not overly pleasing on the eye and represents a 'stalag' of some kind, however, the place is a must visit if in the area. Loads of arts and crafts for sale; we bought quite a few bits and pieces to take...More

Hey Lucy L - I'm replying to your lovely review of my shop (CastOff Crafts) on behalf of the dog you so admired. He's always happy to receive admirers and we both look forward to seeing you and your family in the future - thanks again!
