Just along from the Ring of Brodgar are the remains of this ancient settlement. I really enjoyed wandering around the houses, imagining the people who lived here and the lives they led. The setting is beautiful, just near the shoreline of one of the many...More

The Wednesday 10am tour from the Stones of Stenness also covers the Barnhouse. It was really informative and definitely made the walk down from the Stones worthwhile. Lovely views too.

Interesting site but not as impressive as Standing Stones which is just adjacent. If you visit the standing stones it is worth the additional time to visit this site. Well preserved and not as crowded.

Any visit to Orkney would be wasted if a few days is not planned to see the many ancient and in some cases, unique Standing Stone and Archaeological discoveries available. Many are within a few miles of each other. These include the smorgasbord of sites...More

Part of the world Heritage site Barnhouse is the remains of a village which they think played a part in the rituals that took place at the stones of Stenness and the Ring Of Brodgar
