What an iconic structure. So amazing to see it and great that trains kept going over, to show just how massive a structure this is. Loved seeing it

This iconic, steel , cantilever bridge, completed in 1890 after 8 years of construction, is a true marvel of Victorian engineering. It was designed by Sir John Fowler, and Sir Benjamin Baker, and when it first opened it had the world’s longest spans between the 3 double cantilevers , each 330 ft high. It’s 2.5 km long , and is now the world’s 2nd longest cantilever span bridge , and considered one of the wonders of the industrial world. In 2015 it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and is also proudly considered a symbol of Scotland . For close up views , visits to both both North Queensferry & South Queensferry will afford you them, or Forth boat trips. However, personally speaking , nothing beats the excitement of crossing it by train, where you can see the enormous red-painted structures up close , with excellent views of the picturesque Firth of Forth and the boats sailing upon it. It just never gets old.

Awesome bridge, travelled across on the train when it was heavy snow! A sight never to forget!
Visited the fantastic aquarium below by the bridge, getting off the nearby station on the bridge.
Totally recommended!

Visited the bridge with my son whilst the weather made is highly photogenic.
A true global icon that us folk of Scotland are justifiably proud to call our own.

An engineering masterpiece that has stood the test of time. Still used today for rail traffic across the Forth of Firth.

North and South Queensferry are quaint cute. They are better in terms of tourism. This bridge used to be an attraction.

Beautiful. The best bridge in the world. Like a lovely red Meccano structure. The shape of it is magnificent. South Queensferry is a lovely little place.

The Forth bridge is the most recognised bridge in the world. A truly brilliant and beautiful structure. Built to last by Victorian engineers. Iconic

I absolutely love the Forth Bridges...I could gaze at them all day. The rail bridge, in particular, is my favourite. The architecture is breathtaking!

We had a wander around the base of the bridge and were very impressed. I had only ever saw the bridge from the train but took loads of pictures of this impressive sight. Weather wasn't the best but definitely worth a visit , especially on a nice sunny day.
