Only had time to visit the gardens but will be back to see the rest. Squeezed in tea and cake and they was brilliant.

We visited the gardens and had a lovely wander around with our dog. The grounds are beautiful and the paths are red blaze which meant that it was kind to footwer, and not at all muddy. We shall return when the place is in full colour.

We weren't able to visit the house as it seemed to be closed (strange on a school holiday!) but we enjoyed a walk around the grounds. It was free to roam the grounds and we spent about an hour here. It was a beautiful sunny day and I particularly liked the Chinese bridge, mazes and resting points made from wood... More

Been intending to visit for ages, the weekend escape was the ideal opportunity and we weren't disappointed. It being a Sunday we did the longer tour, if you have the time do this tour it was well worth the money. The largest collection of Chippendale in the world is housed here. I understand they have events on so it is... More

My wife and I have always tried to find somewhere special and unusual for our Valentines day evening out and Dumries House met both of those. The evening was a tour of the House follwed by a meal in one of the spectacular rooms in the House. Both were exceptional and the service by the young people - including the... More

A shining jewel in Scotland's crown of stately homes, Dumfries House and estate was almost lost at one point - consigned to die a slow lingering end. But all that changed in 2007 when a trust was formed and the house and grounds were purchased. But like all such grand homes, they cannot survive on love alone, and Dumfries was... More

Dumfries house is a lovely place to visit. The gardens are beautiful. You have to book to visit the house, but if you have not got the time a visit to the gardens and especially the walled garden are well worth the visit. There is no entrance fee for the gardens . Prince Charles has helped to revive the gardens... More

Had a lovely hot chocolate and cake, before going to the park with the children. Was a good way to spend quality time!
