A wonderfully quirky cottage for an extraordinary man. No kitchen and no loo. Austere and yet a luxury bathroom. A place where the great and good and not so good came to visit this by now modest chap. What a thoroughly extraordinary house and how beautifully set. Try to be there with few others to get the air of the... More

This is the little cottage in the forest that TE Lawrence lived in during his last years whilst he was in the army at nearby Bovington Camp. It occurred to me, as I got closer, that I was probably driving on the same roads that TE raced along on his motorbike before his crash and death in May 1935 at... More

Living close to Clouds Hill , this is a must see visit for all our visitors. This unprepossessing little cottage is as Lawrence left it on his untimely death and is curated well by the National Trust and enthusiastic volunteers. It is worth going into the garage and reading the background material and recordings before taking a turn in the... More

This is a very small but fascinating property as it provides such a clear picture of its eccentric but charismatic owner, T E Lawrence. Lawrence lived in very modest surroundings and ingeniously adapted this rather austere property to meet his own modest comforts. The National Trust staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. This was a visit I shall never forget.

The National Trust maintain this former workman's cottage in the Dorset countryside. It's literally two up (entertaining room and kitchen) and two down (bedroom and bathroom). Very informed guides about the life of the man who became a controversial hero and then vanished into self-imposed obscurity in the RAF and then the Army before dying in an accident in 1935.... Having visited once or twice already, It was a pity we went this time on a less than sunlit day, and had to rely on the little LED torches which did nothing to let us see the downstairs room as a whole, and meant that looking st the pictures was a one at a time experience. Surely it isn't beyond... More

Very small house - one bedroom downstairs plus bathroom. One main room upstairs with small pantry/guest bedroom to the side. The house is exceptionaly dark and eyes take a while to adjust. Less dark upstairs so I would do this first and then come downstairs where it is very dark and needs a torch (provided) till your eyes adjust. Bedroom... More

Having seen Lawrence of Arabia many years ago and from time to time seen documentaries about his exploits we never realised how and why he ended up. What a remarkable person to have achieved so must and to end his life so tragically.

Been meaning to visit Lawrence of Arabia's very small cottage (only 4 rooms) for some time while staying in Dorset. Managed to get there this year. Well worth the visit and the relatively small price of admission. I was very impressed by the content and layout of the rooms, preserved from the 1930s, including a marvellous old gramophone and some... More
