We are a small, friendly and very different visit for all the family. Run by a small dedicated team we aim to make your visit educational and fun. You can enjoy and learn about our tropical butterflies in the specially designed habitat of which you become part. You not only see the butterflies but feel the rainforest atmosphere that they enjoy as you see their amazing life cycle unfold. In the Otter Sanctuary there are three species of otter to see, our native British otter, the playful Asian short clawed otters and the large North American river otters who love to show off. Our keeper is on hand to explain all about the otters to visitors, some are here for breeding, some for retirement, some just for fun and some because they are unsuitable to be returned to the wild.Make sure to bring your camera.

My boyfriend purchased me this experience for Christmas as I have a love for otters. What can I say we both absolutely loved this experience, the otters were beautiful. We started our day with Tim who is the owner and it's clear to see he has so much love for all the animals here and they have the same love... More

I took my 12 year old son for his Christmas present so he could get up close and personal to his favourite animal. This is the only place in the UK where you can get this close to these fantastic creatures. He had the best time and learnt so much from both Tim and Chloe about all of the animals... More

Never knew there were so many different breeds of otters until I visited this place. Was wonderful to see all the different sizes and unique features to the otters. Mainly went to see the otters but like most animals they are not predictable so definitely the best time to see them is to go at feeding time. They all come... More

We arrived when the Otters were being fed. I definitely recommend coming at that time as as soon as they were fed they went to bed! The guided tour by Tim was perfectly done and provided a background story for each of the Otters. Even though we were advised it was Otters only there were still some Butterflies and terrapins.... We love this place and always visit a few times each year. The butterflies are always magical to watch but the best but is when they feed the Otters. They are so cute and we seem to learn something new every time. Our daughter is mesmerised by them. It's a great cause as well, the work they do for otters... More

Great place looks after otters from all over UK and Ireland and where it can reintroduces them into the wild - Has a group of British, Canadian and short clawed regulars and provide an otter experience day where you can feed and spend time with them. Regards to Tim exceptional and friendly keeper.

I purchased the otter keeper experience for my girlfriend for Christmas. We travelled down 250 miles from Kent to visit the sanctuary especially, and were really glad we did so! The place is fantastic for anyone with a keen interest/obsession in animals. Having done many various experiences, this has to rate as one of the best. Tim is a fantastic... More

You can happily spend half a day here, The butterflies have breath taking colours, and the otters are fun to watch, there is a pub near by, and also a great one on the river. Down the road is the Abbey, with lovely grounds, and a restaurant...

In the biome the butterflys were beautiful and the terrapins were amusing but it was very warm and stuffy. Outside the otters were mostly outsider but not always.
