The Golden Hind in Brixham Harbour, is one of only two full sized replicas in the world of 16th century explorer and privateer Sir Francis Drake's famous ship. The Ship has been a feature of picturesque Brixham harbour for over fifty years, entertaining and educating thousands of visitors during this time - as well as being featured on many tv programmes and films. The Ship is open come rain or shine and is an all weather attraction with many indoor displays as well as wide open decks and on-board activities.

Came here for a family morning walk and nice to see this ship. Smaller than i thought it was but looks so much on board. Did not go on as there were 9 of us but seeing this ship and the area was very interesting.

Suprising how much I enjoyed this. There is a lot more space than I was expecting but it is really sobering how cramped the ship is.

Be a sailor for a while.I didn't know where a sailor went to the toilet but when I found out I wished I hadn't asked where the toilets were! So much packed into a small ship you must go to believe it.

This is an iconic image of Brixham and I have lost count of the number of times I have walked past and thought that I should give it a go...well I finally did with my kids and they loved it. Interesting museum, thoughtful staff and great fun all round. Definitely worth 60-90 minutes of your time.

How many times have we driven past and said "we must go aboard".We live in the Bay,so on a visit to Brixham, on board we went, great fun, even if we have left our childhood a long time ago. In fact no doubt we will go aboard again. Thanks to all the crew who made us feel very welcome

Many thanks for visiting and taking the time to write such a poignant review - it's much appreciated. We love it when locals enjoy the ship and their time on it. We're now closed for winter maintenance but we look forward to seeing you again in 2017. More

There is a huge amount of history packed aboard, not least the fascinating story of how Drake was the first English captain to sail around the world and bring back over £480m worth of treasure which Elizabeth Ist was more then... Took my five year old son to the Golden Hind today when we visited Brixham Harbour. Was really impressed with the information and attention to detail. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Some of the steps may have been difficult for small children or people who aren't so steady on their feet, but what else would you expect from... More

Thank you for taking the time to do a review and we're glad that we were able to give you a personal welcome to our fascinating and unique museum. For sure there are some steps and narrow passageways as there would have been on the original Tudor ship, but were glad that you were able to see everything and enjoy... More
