So worth a visit to just walk around the grounds or stand and listen to the monks chanting...would revisit if we are In County Waterford again...

Mount Melleray Abbey was inhabited by a large community previously. A farm provided for their needs, they generated their own electricity and drew pilgrims from all over Ireland. The community has shrunk now and the place feels sad and forlorn.

Oops ... this is probably too late, but to get to Mount Melleray from Dublin without a car would be very awkward and expensive! There are buses that would take you to Waterford, Cahir, Dungarvan, Cork, but these would... More
