Mizen Head is so much more exciting than Land's End in Cornwall! The geology is spectacular, the cliffs and rock formations diabolical, the tragic history of lives lost on spectacular wrecks well-documented. In addition there is a wealth of knowledge about Fastnet Rock and Lighthouse...More

I recently had a successful visit here with my sister. By that, I mean that I finally made it more than 50 yards beyond the visitor's centre (which is about a 15 minute walk from the lighthouse, and has good car parking incidentally) as I'm...More

The weather wasn't great for this particular attraction but it's the West coast of Ireland so what do you expect I suppose! It gives you a great appreciation for what life must have been like for these brave souls who manned the lighthouse throughout the...More

My title says it all really. Yes it was raining - this is Ireland, so not unexpected. Yes it was windy - on the end of a peninsula this is also not unexpected. Why promote this as an "all weather" facility and then close when...More

We came on a very misty day and saw nothing. We had coffees and cakes but it didn't make up for the disappointment, obviously not the centre's fault. Ireland's weather even during summer is pretty bad.

Well worth allowing time to get to this most southerly point especially on a dry sunn day. The drive down is full of lovely scenery and quaint views of Irish life. Plenty of parking on arrival (we were just outside of school holidays) and easy...More

My wife, Dad and I visited here around a week ago on a very calm and clear day. The sea was completely flat, so a great opportunity for seeing cetaceans. Unfortunately, we didn't spot any, though we all thought we saw a glimpse of a...More
