You can learn Knoxville and Southern history here and a cool place to spend some hours. The amount of artifacts that they have here is like watching history unfold before your eyes.

Nice museum focused on Eastern Tennessee. You can do it in an hour or take 2 hours if you want to read more. Lots of interesting information, nicely curated in a beautifully restored older building.

Lots to see and read. Worth a visit. We spent about two hours there and could have stayed longer but we were hungry!

Knoxville is not that far from Gatlinburg and this museum is top rated. I wish we had spent more time here. Until July 31, there is a Sgt York exhibit including what it would have looked like inside a WW I trench. The other exhibits...More

Small but worth seeing. Easy to get to from town. The free trolley goes there, but you can also readily walk from the Market.

A pleasant surprise to come across this excellent coverage of the area from archaic times to the present. Give it at least an hour or two as what they have is so interesting.

Extremely educational. Fills in a lot of gaps in history through 1700/1800's. Very well presented and explained. Stumbled onto this place while visiting Market Square. So glad we did.

Really enjoyed learning more about Eastern Tennessee with the thoughtful exhibits here. As interactive as you’d like to be with immersion in historic recordings from diaries of the 1700s through the 1900s. Really well organized and exhibits described without current PC bias. Highly recommended.

Mountains. Lots and lots of mountains. Go hike or just drive but only do the inside stuff if it is bad weather.
