The Mabry-Hazen House Museum, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is located on five acres atop Mabry Hill and includes the 4-acre Civil War Bethel Cemetery. This stately, elegant home of the Victorian and Civil War periods showcases one of the largest collections of original artifacts including, china, silver, crystal, and antique furnishings. Built in 1858 and housing three generations of the same family from 1858-1987, the Mabry-Hazen House served as headquarters for both the Union and Confederate troops during the Civil War. A very interesting visit to Mabry House with an extremely knowledgeable guide named Calvin. House has been restored and contains a multitude of original historical furnishings and possessions of the previous owners. A real step back in time. Recommend.

We always went to Marby Hazen to view the Boomsday/Labor Day fireworks display and to enjoy the dinner. Along with that was a guided tour explaining the history of the Mabry Hazen House. Too bad that they no longer do this particular event. But it's still worth the visit.

We heard good things about the Mabry Hazen House and decided to visit it. I called ahead to make sure it was open and spoke with Calvin. He said tours were given by appointment only during the winter months and agreed to meet us at 1PM the next day. During our tour Calvin's showed us the house and provided us... More

This is one of the better historic homes to visit because so many of the interior furnishings are original to the house thanks to the mild "hoarding" of previous owners. (Many of the collections and furnishings are still stored.) Our guide, Calvin, was very knowledgeable and gave a great tour. The cost of the tour is $10.

House has been restored and contains the original furniture and belongings of several generations of the same family. The tour provides for an interesting afternoon and the book outlining the life of the final occupant is highly recommended reading.

The house has an excellent view of Knoxville. Entrance fee is pricey. We went on a free day. Docents were dressed in period dress and were knowledgeable about the house and grounds. Handicap access to first floor only. House contains items up until her death. Some items old and some are newer. For example, chair coverings are of horsehair. Silver... More

A beautifully restored house, perched on a hill. The tour guide is very friendly and responsive. He was very helpful with e-mail regarding my visit, and making sure he was there. He even waited with the group (of 3 others) so that I could join them. The guide is full of anecdotes of all aspects - the house, the history,... More
