Visited on Saturday morning. Arrived at 9 AM when it first opened. The parking lot was a little difficult to find, but when we did, there were only two cars in a large lot (free parking, at least on Saturday). Walked about 5 minutes to...More

During our brief visit to Knoxville, we explored the World’s Fair Park, and the Sunsphere Tower, across from our hotel. I remembered the Sunsphere from the Knoxville World’s Fair, back in 1982. Like a somewhat similar structure in Seattle, and then several from other World’s...More

Ok, lots of places have splash pads these days for kids. This is not in the same league as any splash pad I've ever seen! This is like being able to cruise around in the Bellagio fountains in Las Vegas! Really powerful towers of water...More

The Sunsphere Tower is one of the more unique and famous attractions of downtown Knoxville due to its inclusion in an old Simpsons episode and association with the World's Fair. Visiting on a Tuesday morning, I found the tower to myself and was able to...More

My wife and I had a quick visit to Knoxville and decided to stroll the 4-5 blocks from our hotel to the Sunsphere. Neither of us had been there since the actual World's Fair in 1982. So glad we did it. First off, it's FREE....More

First of all it's free. It's a great way to get a bird's eye view of Knoxville. You can see the surrounding city, world's fair park, river and mountains. It also has some historic facts in the observation tower.Oh, by the way it's free.

Perfect place to visit for an afternoon especially if you are on a budget as we were. Great view with some plaques to point out some of the area's features and history.

This is something unique for the city. You go to an observation level inside the gold ball for a view over the city. It is free to do and there is a place to eat inside, too, on another level. Parking is not the best...More

The sunsphere was an interesting tower. We stayed overnight in Knoxville and decided to check it out as it was free and close by. The tower is located in worlds fair park. It is a little eerie as it is very empty and no people...More

Sunsphere is an amazing attraction worth a visit. The views of Knoxville are stunning. The best part is that admission is FREE. The downside is there is only one elevator - but, don't let that stop you. Sunsphere is one of those attractions that has...More

Yes, to get inside it is free and the observation deck is also free. I believe there was a restaurant on one of the levels, which obviously would cost you, and you might have to pay for parking nearby to check this out, but... More
