House mountain is a moderate hike to the top, easily less than 1 hour to make it to the top. Great views of Knox county and the Great Smokey Mountains.

What better than a hike the day after our Thanksgiving feast? five of us started late morning, found the well marked trailhead easily and picked the shorter, steeper route up so we could "relax" taking the other route down. A few short rests to catch my breath on the way up was good in several ways, not least appreciating the... More

A group of 6 of us went for just an afternoon hike. None of us are expert climbers but are in moderate shape. We took the difficult trail up crossed over on the crescent trail and then down the mountain trail. Very glad we started with the more difficult trail as we were somewhat tired coming back down. We did... More

Great find, not far outside of Knoxville. Parking little challenging - just parked along side of road. Trail head well marked. Bathroom at the start. We hiked with 8yo and dog - and both did fine. It's pretty steep going up. I recommend the early spring before all the leaves fill in - the views will be better. The rock... More

Great day hike, dog friendly. Good views. Good hike for beginners. Pack a lunch and eat at the top looking out on the town.

This is a challenging hike both up and down the mountain. Once up the views are outstanding! If you have young children they will struggle a bit as it is a long difficult climb. But overall it is a excellent experience.

It is a challenging but yet rewarding trail. Once to the top the views are absolutely amazing and beautiful. There are 4 great lookouts. We ate a nice picnic at one of the lookouts. There are areas that are being worked on due to cutbacks and erosion but these areas do not effect the hike or view.

I've been wanting to hike this mountain for years. I would not recommended for beginners or young children due to the terrain and steep inclines. Take plenty of water and take breaks if needed. You will not regret the views once you're at the top. I love East Tennessee~so much beauty.

This is a nice hike. There are two ways up to the crest trail. One is 0.8 miles and leads to the west overlook; the other is 1.0 mile long and leads to the east overlook. The crest trail is 1.5 miles long and runs between the two. I don't think it is a difficult trail, but it is fun... More
