The house was not open to go inside when I stopped. The cemetery at the site is really interesting. The Carter section is the best in the cemetery.

Carter Mansion is a great place to visit for those like myself that are interested in the early history of east Tennessee. Also, there is a cemetery on the grounds that is very interesting to stroll through.

A nice place to stroll around for a bit. And ghost hunt! Very historical place and again, a nice place to stroll around and enjoy the historical views.

My wife and I wanted to see the inside of the Carer Mansion. I had asked about it at the welcome center coming into Tenn from NC. They called sycamore shoals to find out when to go by, we were then told it was opened...More

We stopped by at this place to have lunch. we decided to do the Carter Mansion Tour. The guide was very informative. We learned a lot ,Very nice ground and well maintained. The tour cost $5 for adults and kids were free.

Stopped by while we were checking out some of the historic sites in the area. When I saw the sign for a "Mansion" I was really expecting to see something far larger. However it was cool to see the building and read about the history...More

I was there during the Christmas season and it was decorated according to its historical period! I got a glimpse of the past and came away with an appreciation of the present. So glad it is being preserved for the public to view.
