Had a wonderful day-trip to Columbia for the express purpose of visiting the Polk House and it was worth it. The location is actually broken up into three buildings with a garden. The tour does not last very long, but the tour guide was very knowledgeable and was funny and engaging. Actually, considering the timeframe, there a number of artifacts... More

We visited on Martin Luther King day in January. We were the only ones there, so we had a personalized tour. we started off with a film presentation, & then proceeded with the tour of the house. I learned so much about the Polks & their lives & contributions to our country. I also learned a lot of historical trivia.... More

The house itself was very well maintained and the amount of furniture actually owned by the Polks was impressive. As an American, I expect to see our history accurately portrayed at National Historic Sites. The story of the Polks with which we were presented was positively sycophantic. James K. Polk was presented as a saint without flaw rather than a... More

We enjoyed the visit to President Polk's ancestral home. Our guide was well-informed and presenting the information in an interesting fashion. He was very receptive to questions. The tour lasted about 30 minutes but we were not rushed. Recommend this as a stop for those interested in US history.

The James K Polk home is home of the 11th President of e United States. Home is interesting but dated as far as museums go. Expected more. They have a great story to tell just need to improve the experience.

Very interesting place of history and well maintained. This house was the first brick home built in the area and the occupants had to travel several blocks to get water.

A very distant relative to my Mother's side of the family. The tour is well worth the hour it took to get through the 2 houses. The guide was exceptional and answered all our questions. Educational for all ages.

One of the most enjoyable and informative tours we have taken. Learned so much about an often overlooked presidency.
