This cemetery is huge! Second to Arlington in size. Some really interesting stories. The topography is lovely and if you've also been to Arlington, there are things to compare. Many unknown soldiers with differently shaped tombstones (not a tomb of the unknown soldier.). Mostly uniform stones with the religious indicators embedded in them, and a section that has wildly different... More

This national cemetery is a beautiful tribute to our fallen heroes. Built by members of the 44th USCT soldiers in 1864. You can see 3 civil war battlefields from the summit. Open 7 days a week. Medal of Honor winner from the movie Hacksaw Ridge Desmond Dodd is buried here.

Very peaceful and quite location. I enjoy visiting her each time I am in the area and paying respects to those who are resting there.

My father passed away Nov. 2016 and we ended up having him buried here. The small graveside military ceremony was very humbling. The folding of the flag that my daughter would not let go of that day. It was a very emotional day with a ceremony that fit my dad perfectly. I have went back to his graveside a few... More

Beautifully kept cemetery for our well deserved veterans. Not much in the way of memorials or exhibits talking about history, etc.

It was quite impressive to see the Tombstones dating back pain from 1864 through recent history. You don't realize how many people have died for this country until you see how many tombstones there really are.

My father passed away end of October 2016 and had a military funeral with the 21 gun salute and the flag folding. It was an emotional day, but it was a wonderful and peaceful ceremony. I helped my mom fill out the forms for the tombstone and it was in place just 3 weeks later. If you're going to visit... More

When you see this place, you know it is a place of honor. If you have anyone who has been in the service, please visit, you can feel the fight for freedom in this place. It is a very humbling experience to know all of these people and more fought for you. Do not leave Chattanooga without going! Joey was... More
