After visiting the Devils Tower we were headed for Deadwood and had decided to take this route rather than the freeways. A good decision because it's a delightful drive all the way from Spearfish into Deadwood itself with many viewpoints along the way.

We were in SD in the Spearfish area and took this drive. The colors were perfect. It was so beautiful. The drive wasn't too long and it was pretty enough to keep the kids, 13, 12, 10, 9, awake!

One of the most beautiful views our wonderful country has to offer! Amazing. We drove this road, then went back the other way because it was so beautiful.

It took us several hours as we stopped several times to enjoy the scenery, wander around, take pictures. You could do it in 2 hours or up to 4.
