This interesting Memorial is located east of I-29 on West 12th St. A concrete outline of the battleship can easily be seen from the road. An inviting visitors center will give one a full history of its service during WWII from 1942-47. Known to the...More

We accessed online information to read about the exhibit and enjoyed it even in a downpour. It was easy to pull off the street and park that day.

USS South Dakota (the third ship to carry this name) was cut up for scrap in 1947. So there is no "ship" here! What is presented is the shape of a ship, with authentic guns, anchors and propellers. We thought it was lovely. Then on...More

I was pleasantly surprised how much history was here on display. The outside of the building didn't look like much would be on display. It is free to take a look; I would recommend it.

Good place to view some WWII history if you're in the area. There is no actual ship, just pieces of it and a lot of memorabilia from those who served on her. It's worth it to stop by once if you're in the area.

No charge, but they do accept donations. Great area to learn about the USS SD. Inside is a small museum area and great info and things to see on the grounds.

The USS South Dakota Memorial is well worth your time. The museum features memorabilia, photos and models. A highlight of our visit was equipment removed from the battleship itself was on display; some inside, some out. Our visit took just over an hour, time well...More

This was a small museum which gave sufficient information (not too much) and had a lot of neat models to look at. In front of the entrance, there is a bronze plaque which has a map of all the places that the USS SD Battleship...More

Was surprised to find this memorial at the town park. Hubby had read about it, but had forgotten it was there. Scooting around town to burn a few hours and decided to stop and take a look. The museum had really nice exhibits.
