This museum is wonderful. So many fossils and extinct creatures bones are on display. It is a walk through time. In addition to the dinosaur bones there is also a great section on minerals of the area. I was amazed at how much was presented...More

Parking is tight, but it's worth the search. Some folks are calling this place small, but the Geology Museum at the University I worked at could fit into one corner of this place. It's all relative. Lots of information, great displays. Nicely laid out. Free,...More

We really enjoyed this museum which features both plenty of fossils as well as gorgeous mineral specimens. About 1 to 1.5 hours is sufficient to traverse the space, and I learned quite a few things from spending time there.

We enjoyed our brief stop in this small museum on the campus of the SD School of Mines. It's primary focus is on minerals and fossils that have been found in the state and region - and there are plenty. The displays are interesting, however...More

Interesting collection of minerals and fossils and extensive explanations of both. The history of exploration in the Badlands and Black Hills is particularly interesting. One could spend either 1 hour or half a day in this museum depending on the vistors' scope of interest(s)

This museum was interesting for about 1/2 hour to us. I am glad it was available as something else to do while in town. Easy to get to in my opinion.

For a college museum it was pretty good. Nice that it was free. Kids got free rocks when we left. Most of the fossils are ones that were found in South Dakota.
