Interesting...worth the stop.

The Corn Palace is an interesting place. Not much going on during our visit but was still worth the stop.

Nothing special here. Lots of vendors selling souvenirs on the floor of the auditorium. No admission fees.

My daughter in law & myself were very disappointed. We expected to see an actual structure made of corn and this was a building with very beautiful scenes made of corn. Inside was an auditorium with a school-like gym floor and also a stage like you find in an elementary school. The floor was filled with "souvenirs". I felt like... More

After watching a 20 minute video on the history of the corn palace, the question was asked... do birds eat the corn outside? the answer was, this is the biggest bird feeder in the world. The fun room for kids is on the second floor.

The Corn Palace is very unique with an interesting history. This is open to the public and free. We joined a tour which consisted of a 15 minute video and a 10 minute discussion about the inside murals. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and very nice. She willingly accepted questions. An hour is sufficient to see the Corn Palace... More

Maybe my hopes were too high for this location. I read several reviews in guide books and online raving about how cool this place is...I really expected, I don't know, something more? The outside is pretty and the few corn art portraits are interesting, but that's it. There's nothing more besides another tourist trap open floor shop with kitschy crap... More

We stopped at the Corn Palace because we had heard so much about it while researching our South Dakota trip. It is a kitschy little stop and great for stretching your legs! The murals were great - made out of corn - and the detail and talent that went into them is remarkable. A fun place to stretch your legs!

We stayed overnight in Mitchell and stopped on our way out of town. The whole family enjoyed walking around and looking at the murals. It was fun to explain to the kids that they were all made from corn. It is worth a stop.

This was a great place to stop with the kids as we traveled across the country. They were able to run around in the interactive kids museum and as parents we got to enjoy the amazing works of art made from corn!

My memories from youth were more about looking at it from the outside and feeling very underwhelmed. Since then they have done more inside and there is more family oriented activity. Served as a much needed stop as we made our way west across South Dakota
