Outside was very nice, the center was closed. Nice river walk, and trails, beautiful flowers, monuments, etc

Glad you found the actual geographic center of the nation. It is a bit of a drive on gravel roads, good for adventurers. More

I was driving near Spearfish when I saw the exit for the Center of the Nation, figured it would be a good stop. It was cool to stand in the geographical center of the country, not far off the interstate. The location was apart of a nice monument, also had a museum but I arrived after that closed. I would... We stopped here on our way back from Devils Tower to Rapid City. This monument is well done, kind of like the 4 corners monument, and in a very nice park. We're glad we took the time to check it out.

An unique roadside attraction. The Geographic Center of the Nation. This happened in 1959 when Hawaii and Alaska gained statehood. In addition to the Monument, there is a museum, memorials, and nice well kept grounds to enjoy. In my opinion, it's worth the stop.

We were there on a Sunday. A cold and rainy Sunday. We still walked around the monument though. Spoiler: it's a big compass. I think the plaque out front makes reference to the real location though. Real location is about 20 minutes North off the highway, on a dirt road marked "old us hwy *insert number here*". Take that left... More

This is a nice museum and tourist attraction. The only downside was finding out that the actual center is located about 20 miles NW of here in some farmer's/rancher's field and not really accessible. Other than that, this is worth your while to drive here and see the place.

It is definitely worth taking the detour off of Route 90 to visit this little gem. Of course seeing the center of the country is fun as well as learning how it was calculated and how it has moved over the years, the museum was interesting, the Johnny Spaulding cabin which was built in 1876 by an early pioneer was... Great place to visit. Interesting and well kept up. Is next to the Tri-State Museum and has a walking path nearby.
