This place is truly a gem with changing exhibits of interesting artists. Recently, they had an artist who had come from Africa and not only exhibited his works but ancient artifacts - masks, head rests, seating, etc. For those of us who have traveled to Africa and miss it, the chance to experience some of these things was super positive.

The Sumter Gallery Of Art has amazing classes for children. My 3 boys love taking them and spending time at the gallery.

This small, free county operated art museum has interesting traveling art exhibits and a good museum shop. It is part of a very good county cultural center that has a theater, classes, etc. A very nice experience in this small town.

The Sumter Gallery of Art, in the Historic District, though small, has excellent taste in their changing art exhibits. All media--photography to oils and water color to fabric, to clay to popsicle sticks-- are displayed from a wide variety of artists, local to international. Thought provoking, playful, imaginative. You can't go wrong with a visit. Free, donations appreciated. Nice gift shop.

Top notch artists always on display. Always a pleasant experience, particularly if you go on the opening night. One of the artists talks about how he creates his or her master pieces. Very enlightening.

Me and my special someone spent a good part of the day. The curator was very knowledgeable. She was very helpful and showing us different exhibits. Found this very educational.

The Sumter County Gallery of Art is the place to go in Sumter for a cultural experience. The shows change every few months. The last show had an original Norman Rockwell on display.

Attended a pottery class here once and loved it. I can't wait to be able to take another one. They put on a lot of great events, so be sure to check out their website!

I went to the Sumter Gallery of Art to check it out and was pleasantly surprised. The gallery is nicely appointed and the staff was the best! I was able to see the amazing work of local artists. I also made a few purchases in the gift shop. This is really a must see when visiting Sumter.
