Being almost a next door neighbor of the Waccatee Zoo and having 10 grandchildren, we have gone several times over the past decade and although it's a nice place to visit, not much has changed over the years. The walking paths are HORRIBLE (please, watch your step); uneven and littered with tree roots; definitely NOT suitable for the elderly, strollers,... More

I enjoyed visiting the zoo and seeing all of the animals. The only negative thing is that the terrain within the walking area is very rough with roots, rocks, sticks; etc. I was afraid that I was going to trip.

My family enjoyed the Waccatee Zoo. Be sure to buy the pet food if you have kids. Make sure to wear bug spray! Make sure to read the signs....they are there for a reason, lol. I read the signs about the cats possibly spraying and ignored them... my 5-yr-old son got sprayed big time! fun and resonably priced

My wife and I were leaving Myrtle Beach (4 day vacation from Virginia). Weather improved and we decided to visit zoo (had visited several times in 1990's/00's with young children). Zoo is FANTASTIC and a unique experience....up real close and personal with the animals (all seemed very well cared for). Saw a baby emu....incredible peacocks showing off all over the... More

This little zoo is so unique, and it was very hard to rate. I could give it a 5 on the one hand, and a 1 on the other. It has so much charm, and the staff seemed to love the zoo. The trail walk was very lovely, and seeing the roosting spot of great white egrets was one of... More

My family really enjoyed visiting this zoo. After reading reviews we went with an open mind and not expecting a 5 star zoo. Yes some of the fencing & cages should be replaced and the cats should definitely have a larger space. I don't know much about the animals or where they came from, maybe this is in fact a... More

You can interact with the animals by feeding them. There are a few you cannot feed but it is a great experience for the family. We try to visit every time we come to the Myrtle Beach area.

Please don't give this attraction a dime. The animals should be rescued and given to zoos that will feed them and house them appropriately. Most animals look undernourished and most are in a chain link fence. The donkey completely scared my 6 and 7-year-old because it didn't want us to pass it without feeding it. And it's a donkey. We... I visited the zoo with my grandchildren ages 15, 11 and 8. The children enjoyed the morning but we were all very concerned about the cramped cages of the bears, wild cats and monkeys and the dilapidated state of a lot of the cages. Are there no inspections in South Carolina? The egrets nesting in the trees was very impressive... More

I loved the wildlife area. Being there for the egret's nesting season was a real highlight. The family enjoyed feeding the animals, but food was pricy. We were very troubled by some of the extremely cramped habitats, way too small for lions and horribly cramped solitary confinement for baboon.
