Four of us adults went and I'm glad we did. It's a very short walk from the parking lot into the hatchery over a wooden footbridge. It was amazing to see how the fish were farmed from "milking" the eggs from the femaie, fertilizing them,...More

This used to be a US fish hatchery but was abandoned and then picked up by the state. They supply the fish for most of the entire state's lakes, streams, and rivers. You can see the fish in all sizes up to just before they...More

We thought we were going to get a tour but we're told that tours were for groups of 10 or more. I suggest to get a permit and fish the nearby rivers.

My wife and I took a tour of the fish hatchery one morning while we were staying at Oconee State Park. It was very interesting. We both enjoyed seeing how the hatchery was run. It would not be a waste of your time.

Short trip from I-85 at Georgia-South Carolina line to Walhalla into the mountains of SC. Great trip to take young children to see live trout and to be able to feed them.

Always enjoy walking through the hatchery. My Uncle worked here for probably 40 years starting back in the early 60s. They have large water tanks holding brown trout, brook trout and rainbow trout in various sizes all the way up to one tank holding fish...More
